ConnecTeen and the Calgary Hitmen Celebrate 8 Year Partnership
ConnecTeen staff with Youth Central volunteers at the CT booth.
On Sunday, March 12, 2017, the Calgary Hitmen faced off against the Edmonton Oil Kings to take the win, with a final score of 5-2. Thousands of fans turned out to cheer the Hitmen to victory and to support ConnecTeen, Distress Centre’s youth peer support service.
ConnecTeen provides confidential peer support to Calgary teens by phone, text, chat and email. $2 from each ticket sold using the code TEEN was donated to ConnecTeen, as well as proceeds from the 50/50 ticket sales.
EllisDon has sponsored the ConnecTeen – Hitmen game since 2010. Jeff Fox, Vice President of EllisDon’s Calgary office, presented our Youth Program Coordinator, Vanessa De Souza, with a check for $10,000 during the intermission.
Free sunglasses were handed out for our Face in the Crowd contest, inviting fans to take a selfie wearing ConnecTeen sunglasses and share it on Twitter and Instagram.
A highlight of the game featured the winning video from our youth video contest on the Jumbotron. The winners of the video contest, ConnecTeen volunteer Ryan Costello and his friend Aine Kay Sinson, won a corporate suites generously donated by Coca-Cola to enjoy with 8 of their friends.
We love our ongoing partnership with the Calgary Hitmen because it gives us the opportunity to inform fans of the services of ConnecTeen.
