Volunteers play an important role at the Distress Centre. They
contribute in many ways and share a common satisfaction in knowing that they
are having a direct impact on people’s lives.
The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by
the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others. --

Potential Volunteers
The variety of volunteer roles at the Distress Centre provides
potential volunteers with enough choices for each person to find the job that
is right for them. Distress Centre volunteers make a difference every day. Our
volunteers are on the front lines: greeting clients and visitors in the role of
volunteer receptionist, managing calls on the crisis lines, and providing
information and education for high school students. The agency is governed by a
volunteer Board of Directors, and fundraising volunteers work tirelessly to
coordinate events such as our annual golf tournament. Often the first contact a
person has with the Distress Centre is through a volunteer in some capacity.
If you have ever considered volunteering as a way to learn
about people and life, meet new friends and make a positive contribution to
your community, the Distress Centre would love to hear from you. Please visit
our Potential Volunteers Page to get more information.
