Furthering the Field of Social Work
We believe in launching careers and furthering the field of social work. That’s why we view practicum students as a great asset to our organization. We offer practicum opportunities year-round within our Crisis Line Program and Counselling Program, and other opportunities with members of our Leadership Team may also be available.
While we primarily take practicum students from the field of social work, we welcome students from a wide variety of backgrounds as well. If you’re interested in a practicum at Distress Centre, please submit your resume, cover letter, and references to practicum@distresscentre.com.
Please note that we are not currently accepting counselling or clinical practicum students at this time.
Opportunities to Help
Our volunteer opportunities allow you to provide support in various ways, including over the phone and via chat, text, or email. We also provide extensive practical and ongoing training.
As Calgary’s only 24-hour crisis agency, we are often the first point of contact for those seeking help. Make a career out of making a difference!
