Outrun the Stigma is a 5 or 10k walk/run that raises funds and awareness for Distress Centre and mental health. Last year the event raised over $15,000 and in total it has raised $221,000 for DC since 2013!

Outrun the Stigma was started by students at the University of Calgary and is now a registered non-profit. Distress Centre is so grateful for this annual community event. We also love to get involved with our own Distress Centre team!

This year’s event is virtual, so you can complete your walk/run anywhere and at any time during the September 16-18 weekend. Sign up before September 5 to receive the early bird registration rate of just $10.

Can’t participate this year? Donate to the Distress Centre team!

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, Distress Centre Calgary would like to honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.
