What is a Monthly Donor?
A monthly donor is someone who wants to support Distress Centre and the work we do, not just once, but on an ongoing basis.
It doesn’t matter the amount, it just matters that their donation ensures the highly trained volunteers and staff are there to provide the mental health support our community needs and deserves to have 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Anna Nelson, Past Chair, monthly donor since 2012
“I have been involved with Distress Centre since 2008, initially as a volunteer Board member and now as a monthly donor. I’ve always thought of Distress Centre as an “essential service”, literally changing and saving lives everyday. I believe in Distress Centre and the importance of the work they do.”
Shamir Ladhani, Ambassador, monthly donor since 2015
“I am a proud supporter of Distress Centre. I have met many of their staff and volunteers and have been truly impressed by their dedication and commitment to serving those in need. Some of us are fortunate enough to not need its services, but for others, this organization is a lifeline. While I do not have the expertise to deliver front-line support to those reaching out for help, I can certainly do my part by being a monthly donor. I truly believe that when we serve others, our lives become more enriched. I invite others to join me in becoming monthly donors of Distress Centre.”
Amy Tollefson, Crisis Line Volunteer, monthly donor since 2020
“Being a crisis volunteer has given me the opportunity to see first-hand how crucial and invaluable Distress Centre services are to the community. Giving back is another way to ensure every person has access to compassionate support when they need it.”
Dale McMaster, Past Director, monthly donor since 2018
“Distress Centre does a great job of supporting those dealing with mental health issues and the challenges of everyday life. DC provides an attentive and caring ear to those that may not otherwise be heard. The services provided during the flood of 2013, the economic downturn of the past several years and the ongoing challenges of COVID have brought significant value to Calgarians of all ages. This is why I continue to support the work they do.”
