“You are the only person I have ever told about what is going on in my life – how much it sucks, and how I just wanted to end it all. I now feel much better. Thank you.”
– Young Caller @ 2:30am
The COVID-19 pandemic has created uncertainly and distress for our entire community. Now more than ever, Distress Centre needs to be available 24/7 to support those in crisis. We have closed our office, but our staff are working remotely to provide 24 hour crisis and 211 support, and daily chat and text support. Our counsellors are providing counselling sessions by phone and online.
At this time, we are not able to have volunteers answer contacts remotely. Paid staff are responding to all contacts, which has caused our costs to increase exponentially. We need your support now. Please DONATE. Thank you.
There are many ways you can give to Distress Centre. You can become a volunteer, donate money, donate your bottles and cans through SkipTheDepot, or you can donate Aeroplan miles. In 2016 the social return on investment for Distress Centre was $7.42 for every $1 donated.
